Welcome to learn about orienteering and attending weekly open courses in Kuopio area!
During this 2,5 h course you learn basics of orienteering (reading the map, use of compass, navigating on an orienteering course). The course is held on Thursday June 13th at 5:30 pm at Pirtti, Southern Kuopio. The location, near Pirtti harbour in the corner of Pirtinpäänkatu and Romanianraitti, is easily reached by bus/ car/ bike and it is located about 10 km from the market square. See the map link below.
The orienteering school is open for 16 years and older participants. You’ll need suitable clothing for the weather, good shoes for walking in the nature and a compass if you have one. If you don’t, you can borrow ours. We’ll walk about 4-4,5 km during the evening on the trails but also a lot outside the trails. The goal is that after this course you feel confident to participate weekly open orienteering courses (easy or medium level) and to navigate with a map and a compass in a relatively easy terrain. If you have previous experience of orienteering we can organize a small group for more experienced participants with advanced instructions.
The participation fee 16 € includes instructions and a guided orienteering course in a small group. The fee is paid at the same time with the registration in Suomisport application. You can also pay by ePassi, Smartum or Edenred. In that case use code OTHER when registrating in Suomisport and pay the fee in ePassi, Smartum or Edenred application to Kuopion Suunnistajat. Then send a copy or a picture of the receipt to info@kuopionsuunnistajat.fi.
